We are eager to deliver the level of reliable service that our incredibly loyal customers have become accustomed to, and we are taking immediate steps to help ensure this does not happen again. So here we are. Democracy only works if people go out and vote, if they engage, and people go out and vote and engage, if they feel it counts for something.
In this election early on, people didn't know who to vote for, because they thought whoever they did vote for it wouldn't make any difference anyway. Either way, it'd all be a bit the same, and none of it what they really wanted. The increased remoteness of the Westminster world has meant that the ordinary people, the little people, people like you and me, have felt increasingly excluded from the forces that shape our lives, increasingly disenfranchised, increasingly at odds with it all. Well, that's gonna change and it starts here.
But remember this -- you haven't just voted for me, you've voted for yourselves. You must no longer allow yourselves to feel locked out from the decision-making process. You must no longer allow yourselves to assume that other people know what's best for you better that what you do. You know best what you want for your children, for your elderly parents and relatives. You know best what you want from your schools, and from your hospitals. You've put your faith in me, now I'm putting mine in you. This can only happen, this will only work, if you take responsibility, too. If you make your voice heard.
My first task is to put legislation in place, to empower the citizen to have more control over their own lives. So it's down to you as well as me to join in, to participate, to be responsible and interested. And what's happened today is proof that you want to be and that you are.
